About The Position

In this position, you will be responsible for the execution of the Injection molds, Automation and Assembly Tooling procurement process. This includes identifying capable tool shops for competitive bidding, ensuring effective sourcing by validating tool shop capability, maintaining transparency through Ford’s Tool Break Down Sheets, and finalizing timely negotiations to support Program Finance Freeze. You will develop Automation and Assembly Tooling sourcing strategies in conjunction with the Purchasing matched pair, coordinate GPDS (Global Product Development System) Part Pedigree Deliverables for all build events, and ensure production tool timing and plans meet home line delivery of tooling for TT requirement. Additionally, you will develop analytical tools and strategies for Best in Class (BIC) tool performance and timing, manage cost status and targets in cooperation with various departments, act as the single point of contact for technical issues with suppliers and engineering on global vehicle programs, resolve emerging issues by engaging relevant stakeholders, and manage positive relationships with the supply base through ethical business operations and a focus on value over price.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or combination of equivalent education and experience
  • 5+ Years of experience in tool related field (tool construction, assembly integration, manufacturing feasibility, processing, cost estimating).
  • 5 years of strong negotiation skills.
  • Candidates for positions with Ford Motor Company must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Automation and Assembly Tooling sourcing strategies in conjunction with the Purchasing matched pair and ensure that those strategies are implemented successfully
  • Coordinate GPDS (Global Product Development System) Part Pedigree Deliverables for all build events
  • Ensure production tool timing and plans meet home line delivery of tooling for TT requirement
  • Develop analytical tools and strategies to deliver BIC (Best in Class) tool performance and timing (Shop Performance Analytics, Benchmarking, shop development plans, Market Intelligence, targets, competitive bids, Low-Cost Country sourcing, etc.)
  • Responsible for cost status and target in cooperation with GVT buyers, program, engineering, cost estimating and purchasing.
  • Identifies key opportunities to deliver efficiencies in vendor tooling.
  • Work closely with Vendor Tooling Purchasing Buyer to deliver efficient tooling
  • Single point of contact and co-ordination regarding Technical issues for suppliers and engineering on global vehicle programs for commodities assigned
  • Resolves emerging issues by engaging Engineering, Program, STA, Purchasing, CE, part Suppliers, and Tool shops to drive GPDS timing deliverables with required pedigree parts.
  • Manage positive relationships with the supply base and/or plant personnel by: acting like a partner, being accountable, trusting and being trustworthy, communicating with consistency, being fact based while driving for results, thinking value not just price, Establish tone of ethical business operations to avoid any fraud, bribery or corruption in order to maximize the relationship value
  • Monitor technical depth and quality of supply base including follow-up on further development and establishment of back-up plan in case of risk
  • Develop a world class supply base for commodities assigned that is capable of delivering the quality, cost and timing objectives of Vehicle Operations and Manufacturing Operations product programs.
  • Identify and develop tool supply base for any emerging technologies working together with PD
  • Ensure long term partner suppliers are capable of meeting quality, cost, timing and technology expectations.
  • Interfaces with Global Vendor Tooling teams in North America, South America and International Markets Group to deliver Global and Regional programs, to exchange best practices, external part benchmarking and tool supplier information and tooling market conditions.
