About The Position

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Tooling Specialist III - Wire EDM Operator, 1st shift at our aerospace manufacturing facility in the Fullerton, CA location.

Requirements

Able to operate and set up Agie wire EDM machines or equivalent.
Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or verbal from blueprints and or sketches.
Able to work accurately to meet precise tolerances of (+ - .0005).
Material knowledge of tool steels and carbide
Maintain proper identification of parts and ensure accurate, reliable records are documented and maintained.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Minimum 3 years related experience in operating and setting up Wire EDM machines, or equivalent previous experience with a fastener manufacturing company.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of Mastercam Wire EDM programming a plus
5 - 7 years’ experience in machinery operations and progressive dies
High school diploma or GED

Responsibilities

Prepares, sets up and operates multiple Wire EDM machines.
Independently makes complete set up of multiple tools in fixtures.
Maintains machines and performs maintenance as needed.
Works from prints, charts, sketches or oral instruction when needed.
Read prints and uses precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers and depth micrometers to check parts for conformance to specifications.
After set-up and ran checks parts against drawings to verify compliance.
Follows all safety procedures including but not Lock/Tag/Verify.
Will train future Operators as necessary or required.
Parts to be lifted and/or transported may weigh up to 30 lbs.
Keeps work area clean (and equipment), safe and in an orderly fashion on a daily basis.
Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.
Able to operate more than one machine at a time.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment operated.
