The company is seeking a Tooling - Mistake Proofing Engineer to develop its sensor application program and enhance mistake-proofing initiatives across the organization.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 3 years stamping experience or related field (Automotive preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years Computer (PC) experience
  • Minimum 3 years basic electronics experience

Nice To Haves

  • Some Electronics Training preferred
  • PLC experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a running inventory of all tooling in need of sensor technology.
  • Issue reports to management on the progress of sensor implementations on a weekly basis.
  • Liaise with other plants within the Company regarding their sensor needs.
  • Maintain the sensor laboratory and an inventory of sensor uses company-wide.
  • Research and test numerous types of sensors, meet with sensor company representatives, maintain a catalog library, and study sensor and automation catalogs, books, and online resources.
  • Document results of sensor applications simulations.
  • Develop basic drawings of sensor installations for the tool room.
  • Be available to put in long hours as needed to accomplish sensor-related tasks.
  • Master the die-protection systems on the presses and transfer these skills to shop-floor personnel via training sessions.
  • Attend trade shows and seminars related to sensor technologies.
  • Train both shop-floor and office personnel on pertinent sensor topics.
  • Take ownership of the sensor program and champion its success in the Company.
  • Work with press room, tool room, design, quality, and management personnel on mistake-proofing applications throughout the Company.
  • Participate in 8D Problem Solving meetings and corrective actions.
  • Attend meetings with and conduct tours for plant visitors to showcase implemented mistake-proofing technologies.
  • Work with die designers on sensor applications at the design stage of tooling.
  • Work within a team environment as the sensor and automation department expands.
  • Occasionally work during evening shifts to conduct sensor-related training sessions for night-shift workers.
  • Assist in the maintenance area as needed.
  • Act as liaison for all facilities.
  • Be positive and look for ways to improve the environment.
  • Stress the need for teamwork and lead by example.
  • Ensure all employees follow safety policies.
  • Keep the work area clean.
  • Follow all safety rules, including lockout/tagout procedures.

Benefits

  • $2,500 Signing Bonus to be paid out $1,000 after 90 days and remaining $1,500 after 180 Days of hire date.
