About The Position

As a Tooling Manager, you will lead the achievement of quality, safety, delivery, productivity, and cost goals for the area and to drive continuous improvement. You will report to the Senior Manager of Technical Services and be located at Columbia, SC. You will support this role 100% onsite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a technical, business, or engineering focus or Westinghouse equivalent of industry experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of process improvement principles such as Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma.
  • Demonstrated operations management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and own all aspects of tooling performance and develop and execute strategies to continuously improve upon on-time and in-full delivery of high-quality manufactured nuclear fuel products in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Establish area and individual objectives, monitor performance, and provide feedback and coaching to ensure objectives are met.
  • Direct and develop area personnel in achieving area and plant goals. Manage Team Leader(s) (first-line supervisors) as direct reports who oversee the daily shop floor activity. Manage Tooling Engineers as direct reports who design and implement tooling and tooling modifications. Develop the skills of the group.
  • Collaborate with departments such as EHS, Product Assurance, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operational Excellence and direct the integration of these resource groups toward solving technical and other problems.
  • Manage the selection and performance of off site vendors to guarantee a supply chain for outsourced site tooling.
  • Lead projects, direct and facilitate lean manufacturing to improve performance.
  • Manage area budget to achieve forecasted spend.
  • Manage area staffing to ensure achievement of area and plant goals.
  • Maintain high employee morale in an environment of dynamic production load requirements and technological changes.
  • Develop and implement plans for meeting customer requirements; ensure compliance with all safety, environmental and government regulations.
  • Implement change following our needs and the strategic plans of the organization.
