About The Position

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for a Tooling Maintenance Technician to join our Operations department based in Kinston, NC. Our team at Airbus Aerosystems Kinston manufactures crucial aircraft components. On the shop floor you’ll be surrounded by individuals who are passionate about aviation and skilled in areas like electrical, structure and quality. The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Requirements

  • Must be able and willing to work any shift to include working overtime as needed
  • Minimal of 2 years experience in production environment
  • Knowledge of production equipment repair
  • High School Diploma/GED or Work Keys Assessment completion
  • The ability to successfully complete the following training provided by Airbus after recruitment: Health & Safety, General aircraft familiarization, Quality Training
  • Knowledge of station safety, quality (clean as you go / Foreign Object Debris) and OSHA regulations
  • Must have basic skills of using a variety of tools
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to articulate complex issues to others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters is essential.
  • Must not be afraid of heights and can work on elevated platforms as high as 40 feet in the air.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal skills.
  • Able to enter, generate and retrieve information using a computer (SAP and Excel knowledge required)
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Training from a vocational school or previous employer in the use of dismantling, moving, installing, and repairing industrial machinery and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Dismantles, moves, assembles, installs, and repairs industrial machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions.
  • Dismantles equipment and machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  • Moves machinery and equipment using hoist, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Assembles and installs equipment such as conveyors and tram rails using hand and power tools.
  • Constructs foundations; aligns machines; performs scheduled inspection and maintenance.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools and fabrication machinery to rework or make new parts.
  • Perform root/cause analysis in support reliability processes, and collaborate with vendors, engineering, team leader, customer, other crafts and management to solve equipment problems and develop corrective action.
  • Rework and maintain tools of all types and materials.
  • Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of their daily work duties (e.g. replacing machine filters, changing standard light bulbs on machines and equipment, maintaining lubrication/coolant levels etc., as related to basic tool preventative maintenance duties).
  • Repairing and building lay-up tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.
