About The Position

The Tooling Engineer will be responsible for developing tooling from order to delivery, working with the Tooling - Engineering Manager, Quality, and Operations team. Delivery of successful tooling to achieve high first-pass yield.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • SolidWorks or similar CAD experience required
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed
  • Ability to work in extreme heat
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with CNC machining or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Foundry Experience a Plus
  • Working knowledge of APQP and PPAP for automotive desired

Responsibilities

  • Design, simulate, sample, and maintain foundry tooling (patterns, core boxes, and fixtures/gages) to meet all customer requirements utilizing customer-supplied part geometry and specifications.
  • Knowledge of foundry processes, including green sand molding and a basic understanding of ductile iron metallurgy.
  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T
  • Understanding and basic use of CAD
  • Work with outside tooling vendors, including quoting, project management, and inspection of received tooling
  • Design and create drawings for CNC machine fixtures for various machining cells
  • Reading and understanding customer blueprints
  • Assist with CMM fixturing for inspection
  • Ability to generate CMM inspection programs (Calypso & PCDMIS)
  • Assist with the layout/measurement of tooling and parts using CMM and 3D scanner
  • Develop in-process gauging for production
  • Understand and conduct GR&R
  • Willing to work “hands-on” when needed to assist foundry sampling programs
  • Other duties as assigned by Management
