The Tooling Engineer will increase Company profitability by providing well-designed equipment, tools, and fixtures for future programs and current production, and will support the quotation process. This role involves providing input and direction in the sourcing, design, construction, PPAP, and launch of new tools, fixtures, and equipment. The engineer will assist Tool-Room personnel and/or vendors in problem-solving, estimate, schedule, and execute engineering changes for tooling and cost savings, and coordinate these changes with various departments to meet production schedules. The position also requires providing technical support for product development and design, staying informed of the latest technologies in tooling, and implementing beneficial ideas. Establishing new and superior sourcing methods for new tooling to ensure capability and improve cost-effectiveness is also a key responsibility. The engineer will work with production to implement Poka-Yoke methods, establish characteristics and achievable tolerances for SPC with the Quality Engineer, and work in compliance with TS16949 Standards, OHSA legislative requirements, and ISO 14001 environmental guidelines. Responsibilities include conducting annual tool audits, performing other duties as determined by management, and ensuring product or process non-conformance is addressed promptly.
