About The Position

SyBridge Technologies is seeking a Tooling Engineer / Designer to join their engineering team at the Fitchburg, Massachusetts facility. This individual will collaborate closely with the Engineering, Operations, and Commercial teams. The primary responsibility is to create and manage the mold tool design and its associated documentation. The role involves designing tooling, verifying functional needs of manifolds, ensuring mold flow requirements are met, modifying cooling and ejection systems, and verifying mechanism functionality. The engineer will apply customer and SyBridge standards to the mold design, ensure the mold meets customer and try-out location press parameters, and incorporate machining and mold-making best practices with cost and timing considerations. They will also attend customer reviews, incorporate safety standards into designs, initiate purchase requisitions for components, and manage fluctuating workloads and priorities. Key responsibilities include ensuring adequate steel and seal-off conditions, proper water locations, ejection specifications, tool strength, assembly feasibility, and approving manifolds. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Two to five years of related experience designing tooling/plastic injection molds or equivalent experience
  • Two to five years of experience with CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Must be able to work independently to scheduled workloads, with ability to perform under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines as required
  • Ability to ensure quality standards are met per SyBridge and customer standards
  • Strong attention to detail is required
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship building skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and communicating with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Complete engineering projects such as designing tooling
  • Verify and check functional needs of manifold and ensure meets mold flow requirements
  • Modify and/or develop cooling and ejection system
  • Verify mechanisms function properly in the design
  • Understand and apply customer or SyBridge standards to the mold design
  • Verify mold meets customer & try-out locations press parameters
  • Incorporate machining and mold making best practices with consideration for best cost and timing
  • Independently attend customer reviews as needed
  • Incorporate all customer & SyBridge safety standards into all tool designs
  • Initiate purchase requisitions for block size, manifolds, and other purchased components
  • Successfully maintain a fluctuating workload, multi-task on jobs and conflicting priorities, sufficient information to proceed with work
  • Ensuring adequate steel and seal-off conditions, water locations, ejection quantity/size, tool strength (pillars, manifold cutout, plate thickness), assembly feasibility, approve manifolds
