The primary duties and responsibilities of the Tool Technician consist of, but are not limited to, leading by example and exhibiting professionalism in all areas when representing Amcor inside and outside of the plant. This role involves working in a professional manner with other maintenance personnel and mold technicians to keep all equipment in top working order, ensuring only quality product is released to the customer. The technician will read and interpret blueprints or work from verbal or written instructions, sketches, or from the actual part to be copied or fitted. They will plan the setup and operation of various machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances, and machine tool feeds and speeds. Responsibilities also include heat treating and welding parts as required, using precision measuring and gauging tools, and performing required inspections before, during, and after machining. The role requires using hand tools of the trade for modifications, fitting and assembling mold parts, tools, and dies, and setting up, running off, and testing molds to produce a product meeting specification. The technician will trace die difficulties to their source and make necessary modifications. Additionally, they may assist machinists and millwrights in injection molding press overhaul and assist product designers by providing information about potential manufacturing difficulties with new product designs. Various other duties as assigned.
