About The Position

The Tool Supervisor directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of company product(s), maximizing productive use and capabilities of production tooling, fixtures and equipment. Oversee daily activities of Tool Repair Room staff.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment, plastic injection molding required
  • Must have prior Mold Making experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to read machine dial gauges, blueprints and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.
  • Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.
  • Machining capability includes, but not limited to lathe, CNC, EDM, drill press, grinding, sawing, and polishing tight tolerance steel.
  • Computer skills.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • 2- or 4-year degree or State Journeyman’s certification
  • Minimum 2 years of Supervisory experience
  • Successful completion of trade school and/or apprenticeship program
  • Available to training in new equipment and machinery as they are procured.
  • Keeping education and background up to current industry standards through willingness to attend seminars, read literature and seek advanced education

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day activities of all Tool Repair employees to include distributing assignments, coordinating work activity between shifts, maintain appropriate off-shift staffing requirements, maintain Tool Repair schedule, process all employee payroll, attendance and vacations, as required.
  • Maintain, assess and improve the condition of Tooling Repair.
  • Drive a proactive, effective, efficient and participative tool PM implementation.
  • Evaluate performance of Tool Room employees and provide feedback.
  • Facilitate timely repairs and refurbishments including use of corporate quoting, tool making operations, and purchasing/ordering of supplies.
  • Monitor Tool Room adherence to ISO, CGMP, and FDA procedures.
  • Attend daily turnover meetings, sample meetings and all other relevant meetings.
  • Monitor apprentice workbooks, workload, assignments, training and other associated responsibilities.
