About The Position

The Tool Shop Counter plays a key role in supporting field operations by ensuring crews have the tools, materials, and equipment they need to stay productive. This position is fast-paced and highly collaborative, serving as the main point of contact for tool check-in/check-out, inventory control, and material distribution. It’s a great entry point into construction operations with strong visibility across active job sites and growth potential within the organization.

Requirements

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • All employees are accountable for safety and health and are empowered to stop work if an unsafe condition is present.
  • Employees should immediately notify their supervisor so that the hazard may be corrected.
  • RK Mechanical employees and subcontractors are required to implement and maintain all safety and health systems practices including the training requirements of RK Mechanical Orientation, shop or site specific orientation, CPR/First Aid/AED/Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Identification and Reporting, and OSHA 10.
  • Work outside, inside, and in dusty, noisy and hazardous areas.
  • Work in high places, tight places, confined spaces and/or other adverse locations.
  • Climb, balance, squat, kneel and crouch.
  • Work in all types of weather.
  • Must have working knowledge of all trade materials and tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry 51 to 75 lbs. occasionally, and/or 31 to 45 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 16 to 22 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

  • Fill requests for tools and return tools back to the Tool Shop.
  • Prepare tools and consumables for shipment to jobs based on requisitions.
  • Coordinate delivery/pickup of tools with jobsite and Tool Shop Supervisor.
  • Research on hand quantities prior to picking.
  • Notify Tool Shop Supervisor of any items that are not in stock and needed to fill request.
  • Transfer and validate the changes in tool/consumable status in the Viewpoint system.
  • Research parts/tools if needed.
  • Review status of tools – i.e. tools in need of repair, retires etc.
  • Ensure orders are filled and completed within the time requirements.
  • Communicate order status to the field.
  • Check orders for accuracy and quality prior to shipment.
  • Oversee the receiving and inventory of inbound tools and consumables.
  • Ensure that tools are being maintained and repaired as required and necessary.
  • Cycle count tools at Tool Shop.
  • Ensure transactional activity of check in and out of tools is happening properly within the system.
  • Inspect and ensure all equipment is in safe and proper operating conditions prior to assigning/shipping to a site.
