This role involves leading a team in the tool room, ensuring safety, quality, and efficient operations, and supporting production needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (completed).
  • Minimum of 5 years of tooling experience in a high-volume production environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Continuous Improvement practices.
  • Demonstrated structured problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, professionalism, accountability, communication, and positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all tooling skills associated with progressive and single stroke punch press operation as well as fixture and gage making.
  • Willingness to learn and apply new technology and new processes to improve the effectiveness of the maintenance department.
  • Able to communicate effectively and direct the work of toolmakers on all shifts.
  • Understands Broan safety requirements and ensures other shift members understand and comply with those requirements.
  • Able to understand unplanned events in the plant and can react to contain, determine root cause and correct those events quickly and properly.
  • Basic skills with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold and model safe work practices.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to improve safety.
  • Work proactively to address issues and engage the workforce to achieve work area MDI goals.
  • Lead safety investigations and complete necessary reports.
  • Communicate incidents to appropriate level as needed.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance assignments in response to immediate production needs and verify work is completed correctly.
  • Prioritize repair work to support the plant and ensure downtime is minimized.
  • Assist Supervisor with onboarding new associates.
  • Train associates and maintain training records as necessary.
  • Participate in selection of new associates and assist Supervisor during interview process.
  • Provide input to supervisor for employee performance reviews.
  • Provide leadership and direction with emphasis on team building through daily MDI meetings, effective communications, and develop an efficient team that is responsive to production requirements and changes.
  • Partner with supervisor and employees on employee related policies and practices.
  • Respond to employee questions and provide assistance when needed.
  • Demonstrate 100% commitment to safety, quality, and MDI process.
  • Ensure highest process standards are being achieved.
  • Display managerial courage to uphold policies, processes, and appropriate behavior.
  • Ensure employees maintain accurate WO records and updates for priority work assignments.
  • Work with vendors when needed for outsourcing work.
