About The Position

As a Tool Room Attendant at Atlas Tube at Zekelman Industries, Kansas City, MO, this role supports production by performing tooling setup, repair, and maintenance to ensure efficient mill operations. This position works closely with production teams during changeovers and is responsible for maintaining tooling readiness, accuracy, and organization. This role is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • General knowledge of roll forming processes and tooling systems
  • Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges
  • Understanding of bearings, tolerances, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and write to maintain tooling records and setup documentation
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Basic computer skills for tracking and reporting
  • Ability to operate hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic equipment, cranes, and forklifts
  • Strong safety orientation and mechanical comprehension
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality
  • Team-oriented with strong work ethic and persistence
  • Stand, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
  • Lift and move materials weighing 50 pounds or more
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Use required personal protective equipment at all times
  • Work flexible hours, including overtime as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with machining equipment such as lathes, grinders, and end mills

Responsibilities

  • Inspect roll stands for wear and damaged components to ensure operational readiness
  • Repair or replace worn parts including shafts, bearings, plates, rolls, and jacks
  • Ensure roll stands are properly gauged per specifications using calibrated tools and equipment
  • Review roll schedules daily and prepare tooling for upcoming production runs
  • Package and coordinate shipment of unrepairable rolls for regrinding
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling refurbishment and inventory
  • Organize and maintain tooling and work areas to ensure cleanliness and efficiency
  • Maintain accurate prints and ensure all changes are approved and documented
  • Attend company and safety meetings and follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation with production personnel and supervisors
  • Submit detailed and accurate work orders for equipment issues in a timely manner
  • Evaluate tooling wear and coordinate with external vendors for repairs and returns
  • Support production during mill changeovers and assist team members as needed
  • Cross-train team members and support cross-functional training initiatives
