About The Position

MiTek is seeking a skilled Tool Room Machinist to support our stamping operations by manufacturing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting tooling and die components. This position plays a critical role in maintaining production efficiency, quality, and equipment reliability. The ideal candidate will have experience operating machine shop equipment, interpreting blueprints, machining precision components, and supporting stamping die maintenance and repair. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Journeyman Machinist certification, accredited machinist training, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of machining and tool room experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments and machine shop equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Stamping die experience.
  • Progressive die maintenance and repair experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing or metal stamping environment.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture new tooling, die components, and replacement parts from blueprints, sketches, specifications, or existing samples.
  • Repair and restore worn or damaged tooling, dies, and components to original specifications.
  • Operate machine shop equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, and other precision machining equipment.
  • Inspect and verify parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Assist with die teardown, troubleshooting, repair, assembly, and maintenance activities.
  • Establish and adjust work methods and priorities to meet production schedules and operational needs.
  • Maintain accurate die maintenance records and related documentation.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement improvements to production methods, tooling performance, equipment reliability, and product quality.
  • Support production requirements while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Train, mentor, and assist team members as needed.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance, including working overtime as to support business needs.
  • Employees are expected to report to work on time and be prepared to begin work at the start of each scheduled shift.
