About The Position

The Tool Room Group Leader is responsible for leading the Tool Room in organizing deliveries, keeping the warehouse clean and tidy, assisting others with tools, and communicating the delivery of erection material to the erection department. This role involves independent work with little supervision and requires training for other positions such as Tool Room, Forklift Driver, Tractor Operator, and Crane Operator.

Requirements

  • Able to read blueprints, plans, and pick lists
  • Able to read a measuring tape to 1/8
  • Able to back a trailer into tight corners
  • Self-motivated
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills
  • Be familiar with rigging equipment, overhead crane, hammer, ladder, and forklift
  • Able to recognize needs and act
  • Able to adapt to changes in work schedules, tasks, or processes
  • Values and demonstrates safe working behaviors

Responsibilities

  • Receive deliveries to the plant
  • Assure accuracy of received items
  • Maintain warehouse and roadway in a clean and orderly manner
  • Clean chucks
  • Load material baskets and delivery items to production beds as needed
  • Communicate with tool room regarding warehouse supplies
  • Stock delivered material
  • Coordinate pickups and deliveries
  • Maintain proper inventory and conduct monthly inventory audits
  • Properly use and conduct minor maintenance on forklift
  • Deliver necessary items to production beds in a timely manner
  • Communicate with department supervisor on available warehouse supplies
  • Accumulate erection material and deliver items to jobsite
  • Operate tractor to deliver material to the plant
  • Operate overhead crane
  • Adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety regulations and policies
  • Housekeeping as necessary to maintain work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner
