About The Position

The purpose of this procedure is to provide and maintain appropriate tools to effectively support the daily maintenance, small projects, and minor maintenance activities, and support some third-party contractor activities with adequate tools to safely complete identified task. This procedure applies to each production unit, maintenance, and resident and nonresident contractors. This procedure defines the responsibilities of the tool room attendants, supervision, Maintenance Coordinators, and contractors where applicable ensuring tools are certified, inspected, issued, tracked, returned after each use, repaired, and purchased when and as required. Other duties may be as assigned.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States.
  • A Valid Driver's License
  • A TWIC Card

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years' experience in an industrial setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing tools as identified below
  • Inspect and ensure that all tools are in good condition and in compliance with applicable OSHA and ANSI standards before issuing to technician and upon return of issue back to tool room inventory.
  • Enter all tools checked out into the “DAILY Checkout Log” with the following information: Date, Description of the tool, Full name of requestor, Company Requestor represents, Requestor’s Supervisor’s name.
  • Verify that tools are ready for checkout upon return and update the Daily Checkout Log to include the date of return, completing the transaction.
  • Describe non-returned tools to the outstanding for return log if tools are not returned after 30 days of being issued.
  • Report tools deemed to need repairs, or damaged, lost, or in need of repair due to neglect or abuse to the Tool Lead.
  • Issue a Repair tag to damaged or neglected tools and place them in the area for tools going out for repairs.
  • Notify the Tool Room Lead man of costs for supplies to make necessary repairs if a tool can be repaired in-house by the Tool Technician.
  • Provide the Tool Room Lead with the Repair Tag Number, Tool Description, Problem with tool, Tool ID number, Work order number, Name of person who checked out tool and the company responsible if a tool cannot be repaired in-house.
