About The Position

The purpose of this procedure is to provide and maintain appropriate tools to effectively support the daily maintenance, small projects, and minor maintenance activities, and support some third-party contractor activities with adequate tools to safely complete identified task. This procedure applies to each production unit, maintenance, and resident and nonresident contractors. This procedure defines the responsibilities of the tool room attendants, supervision, Maintenance Coordinators, and contractors where applicable ensuring tools are certified, inspected, issued, tracked, returned after each use, repaired, and purchased when and as required. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States.
  • A Valid Driver's License
  • A TWIC Card

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years' experience in an industrial setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and ensure that all tools are in good condition and in compliance with applicable OSHA and ANSI standards before issuing to technician and upon return of issue back to tool room inventory.
  • Record all tool checkouts in the “DAILY Checkout Log” including Date, Description of the tool, Full name of requestor, Company Requestor represents, and Requestor’s Supervisor’s name.
  • Revise the Daily Checkout Log with the date of return when a tool is returned, marking the transaction as complete.
  • Describe non-returned tools to the outstanding for return log if tools are not returned after 30 days of being issued.
  • Report tools deemed damaged, lost, or in need of repair due to neglect or abuse to the Tool Lead, issuing a Repair tag and placing it in the area for tools going out for repairs.
  • Evaluate if a tool is repairable or not if repairs are from normal use.
  • Repair tools in-house using parts purchased from the Tool Room budget if deemed repairable by the Tool Technician.
  • Provide repair costs of supplies to the Tool Room Lead man for addition to work order and/or notification to the Maintenance Manager if repairs are made in-house.
  • Tag tools that cannot be repaired in-house with a Repairable Tag and provide necessary information to the Tool Room Lead, including Repair Tag Number, Tool Description, Problem with tool, Tool ID number, Work order number, Name of person who checked out tool, and the company responsible.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
