About The Position

This position is a 2nd shift entry level position located in Columbia, CT. The apprentice has the opportunity to develop skills through hands-on training, learning to manufacture, repair and maintain precision tools. Involves hands-on, on-the-job training in operating machinery like CNC mills, lathes, and grinders. This is not intended as a comprehensive list: it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position specific tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED
  • Basic math skills to include the ability to add, subtract, divide and calculate percentages
  • Knowledge of basic measuring tools, calipers, micrometers, comparators and math required
  • Understanding of GD&T with ability to read and interpret drawing requirements
  • Basic blueprint reading
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist/support Tool Maker
  • Build tooling and/or components to specified requirements
  • Perform repair/rework on damaged or out of tolerance parts and tooling to meet requirements
  • Set-up and operate CNC mills, manual mills and lathes
  • Inspect parts and tooling using calibrated measuring equipment
