About The Position
MSI Mold Builders is hiring a full-time Tool Maker in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to create and make tooling to match part drawings. The Tool Maker supports the assembly team and works collaboratively on mold-making projects. The role involves operating manufacturing equipment, using hand, electronic, and pneumatic tooling, applying knowledge of mechanical and electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies, and reading blueprints to complete work accurately and efficiently. The position is on second shift and receives a 10% off-shift premium. Compensation is competitive and depends on experience.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of industry experience.
- Journeyman toolmaker education.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with strong written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving ability, and composure in stressful situations.

Responsibilities
- Create and make tooling to match part drawings.
- Support the assembly team on mold-making projects.
- Operate a surface grinder, manual mill, drill press, and spotting press.
- Use hand, electronic, and pneumatic tooling.
- Read blueprints and determine ways to complete mold-making projects accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinate with assembly team members.
