Requirements

  • Experience with performing repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting of injection molds.
  • Experience operating overhead crane, and lift trucks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and accomplish in a timely manner when appropriate.
  • Must have own tools related to the position.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, evaluate, and perform repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on injection molds and related tooling to support safe, efficient production operations.
  • Diagnose and repair tooling failures, dismantle molds, repair, or replace damaged components, and verify proper mold function after repair.
  • Set up and operate tool room equipment including Mills, Lathes, & Grinders to cut, bore, grind and other machinery to machine, modify, and repair tooling components.
  • Grind, file, stone, polish, shim, fit, and adjust tooling components to ensure proper fit and function.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications, use precision measurements such as mics, calipers, dial indications, gauge blocks, functional gauges to verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of all finished parts.
  • Build, modify, and repair new production-supporting tooling such as fixtures and jigs, and other custom tooling components.
  • Perform mathematical calculations required to construct or repair tooling and fixtures, including the calculation of lathe and milling machine settings to the proper cutting speeds, taking dimensions.
  • Clean, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot injection molds to maximize tooling performance and production uptime.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Tooling, and Production departments to resolve tooling related-issues, and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following mold maker's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Assist with setting up equipment for finishing operations on molded plastic parts.
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and company procedures while performing duties.
