About The Position

Tool Engineers will apply manufacturing, industrial, and mechanical engineering principles to design tooling for the fabrication of aircraft components and assemblies. This encompasses tooling for current production, experimental, customer service, aftermarket, and defense products. The role involves leading and participating in cross-functional tooling projects to drive product and process improvements, creating tool designs, fabrication methods, and tool string coordination strategies for new aircraft. Additionally, the engineer will observe and analyze current methods for tool fabrication, making recommendations for improvements to enhance production quality, simplify work, and reduce costs. A key aspect is developing tool designs that optimize human factors and comply with OSHA standards, as well as supporting product lines with tool investigations for maintenance and repair.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other related fields
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, industrial or mechanical engineering principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Good analytics and problem-solving skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office, CAD software, etc)
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Eligibility to meet any requirements to access controlled information under U.S export control laws and regulations if the position requires access to sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Creation of electronic and physical tool designs.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional tooling projects that enable both product and process improvements.
  • Create tool designs, fabrication methods and tool string coordination strategies for new aircraft.
  • Observe and analyze current methods and processes for tool fabrication. Make recommendations for tool improvements to support production quality, work simplification and cost reduction.
  • Develop tool designs that optimize human factors and are compliant with OSHA standards.
  • Support product lines with tool investigations for maintenance and repair of tooling.
