About The Position

This self-motivated, detail-oriented individual will be responsible for planning, laying out, and performing machining operations and bench work on tools, fixtures, jigs, etc., of ordinary design. This position reports to Tool Room Supervisor. This role is onsite and is based in Franklin, NH. 1st Shift hours - 6am - 2:30pm with overtime per business need.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of vocational or high school and 10+ years of diversified tool, die, and gauge-making experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of tool making and machining technology, mechanical principles, advanced mathematics, layout and precision measuring procedures, material characteristics, and treatment applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD/CAM programming, metallurgy, and other materials as wells as grinding and sharpening methods.
  • Advanced knowledge of die modification and in-depth understanding and application of tool and die design.
  • Expert in use of tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate manual lathes, mills and grinding equipment.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail, time management time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend and specify design changes to parts, molds, fixtures, including planning and determining change methods, constructing temporary fixtures and jigs, and improvising as needed.
  • Supports and recommends new products at tool maker level and performs bench operations and trial runs.
  • Act as technical expert to analyze and resolve production issues with tools, fixtures and jigs.
  • Stamps & Identifies tools /fixtures and recognizes part numbers.
  • Programs and runs all CNC equipment
  • Builds tool and fixture components from supplied drawings.
  • Determines procedures on layout of tool components, plans and determines methods and tooling requirements.
  • Plans layout and performs machining operations and bench work to construct, alter, and repair tools, dies, jigs and gauges.
  • Performs basic bench operations: grinding, fitting, aligning, timing and calibrating adjustable mechanisms.
  • Repairs and reconditions dies; machining / grinding; cutting and forming tools.
  • Sets up tools for production, trial runs, works with Operators, Engineers and other cross-functional teams to problem solve.
