This position works independently to disassemble, repair, and reassemble multi-plane and single-plane core dies of various sizes. The role involves manufacturing fixtures and gauges with some complexity, performing all responsibilities of B and C technicians, and abiding by plant safety rules while promoting safety awareness. The technician will maintain a good selection of necessary tools, perform setups, and machine complex parts, fixtures, and gauges to engineering specifications. A key aspect of this role is the ability to analyze die, fixture, and gauge problems and offer solutions. The technician will also set up and sharpen drills, tool bits, and contour cutters, and use all tool room inspection equipment for die and fixture inspection. Repairs of damaged dies, fixtures, and gauges will be performed per work orders and in conformance with engineers’ instructions. The role includes manufacturing fixtures, gauges, and setter tooling from sketches, diagrams, and/or blueprints, and assisting in training tool room apprentices, technicians, and new employees. The technician is expected to attend training functions, maintain a clean and safe work area, and possess the ability to train others. An in-depth knowledge of both basic and complex tooling is required, along with performing other duties as required and maintaining a high attendance record.
