About The Position

This role involves fabricating new jigs, fixtures, gauges, wax molds, and miscellaneous tooling. The Tool & Die Maker will use precision measuring equipment to ensure tooling is within specified tolerances and will utilize their knowledge of the tool and die trade to make and repair tooling, sometimes with minimal instructions. The position requires setting up and operating various machine tools, including CNC machines as training permits. Collaboration with engineering personnel to evaluate and improve tool development is also a key aspect of this role. Additionally, the role involves understanding tool material properties, setting up and operating production machines for parts, completing material cards, and maintaining a clean work area.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Knowledge of the tool and die trade.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring equipment (height gage, jo blocks, dial indicators, micrometers, comparator, angle and sine plates, etc.).
  • Skill in setting up and operating various machine tools (mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, power saws, electrical discharge machines).
  • Understanding of tool material properties (machining, heat treatment, welding, brazing, finishes, surface protection).

Nice To Haves

  • Tool and Die Apprenticeship or Journeyman level experience preferred.
  • CNC machine usage as training permits.
