About The Position

The Tool and Die maker is responsible for independently diagnosing tooling issues, disassembling and repairing or fabricating components, and reassembling tooling to meet blueprint specifications. This position requires a strong focus on speed and accuracy, with minimal impact on production schedules wherever possible.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, high-heat, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to navigate internal systems (e.g., PLEX).
  • Ability to read and understand quality documentation and process standards.
  • Must regularly stand, walk, reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 400 pounds with mechanical assistance (barrel cart).
  • Proficient in computer use, including: MS Windows, PLEX, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Teams
  • Understanding and application of common lean methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Supervisors and area Leads

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain basic machining equipment and tools, including: Lathe, Manual Mill, Drill Press, Grinder, Welders, Hand Tools
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and models to determine materials and required fabrication processes.
  • Verify and check dimensions, alignments, and clearances using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks and dial indicators.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment by identifying and communicating safety concerns.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on tooling and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot advanced tooling issues to minimize downtime and support production efficiency.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Follow manufacturing best practices to ensure safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Foster positive working relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and knowledge-sharing to less experienced team members.
  • Apply advanced troubleshooting skills to support toolroom operations and production needs.
