About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Stamping Tool & Die Maker to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and modification of progressive, compound, and single-hit stamping dies used in precision metal stamping operations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with tight tolerances, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in stamping die repair and maintenance.
  • Experience working with progressive dies and precision metal stamping operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of metal forming, die clearances, and stamping processes.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
  • Ability to safely operate machine shop equipment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and maintenance records.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Tool & Die apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain stamping dies, tooling, fixtures, and related equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tooling to ensure optimal production performance and tool life.
  • Diagnose tooling issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve productivity.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and tool designs.
  • Operate machine tools, including mills, lathes, grinders, EDM equipment, and other precision machining equipment.
  • Inspect tooling components using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams during new product launches and process improvements.
  • Assist with die tryouts, first-piece inspections, and production startups.
  • Recommend tooling improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and tool longevity.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
