About The Position

The Tool-Maker/Machinist is responsible for operating and maintaining various machine tools to produce precision parts, tooling, and molds. This role requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to read blueprints, use precision measuring instruments, and apply advanced machining techniques.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machines.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming software and CAD/CAM software is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks with precision.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and supervisors.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or technical school training preferred.
  • CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines operation is a plus.
  • Solid Works, Gibbs Cam, and Auto-Cad is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain manual tooling machines, CNC machines is a plus, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine the dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, to ensure parts meet exact specifications and tolerances.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of machined Tooling and Molds to identify defects and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Perform adjustments to machinery and tooling as needed to maintain product quality.
  • Write and edit CNC programs to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for machining operations.
  • Set up machines and adjust controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth of cut.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure the workspace is clean and organized.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
