About The Position

The Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for managing tool crib operations, including the issuance, return, and recovery of loaned tools and equipment. This role involves maintaining an organized and accurate inventory, processing loan requests, inspecting returned tools, and managing calibration records. The attendant will also be responsible for replenishing consumables, managing inventory levels, placing orders, and supporting technicians and internal customers with material availability. The position requires cross-training with the Lab Spares team and assisting with material staging during downtime events. Accurate record-keeping in applicable systems is essential.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read and understand technical procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from supervisors and managers.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of Mechanical or Electrical experience is preferred or previous experience in a production environment

Responsibilities

  • Issue, return, and recovery of loaned tools and equipment.
  • Maintain the tool crib in an organized, labeled, and inventory-accurate condition.
  • Process tool loan requests and verify requester authorization and required training before issuing equipment.
  • Record all tool checkouts and returns in the designated inventory system.
  • Inspect returned tools for damage or missing components and route equipment for repair or calibration when necessary.
  • Monitor overdue tools, contact borrowers for recovery, and escalate unresolved or missing equipment.
  • Maintain calibration-controlled equipment records and coordinate calibration schedules.
  • Verify calibration status before issuing controlled equipment and ensure out-of-tolerance equipment is removed from service.
  • Receive returned calibration equipment, verify documentation, update system records, and return equipment to available inventory.
  • Maintain calibration labels, certificates, and records to support ISO compliance and audit requirements.
  • Perform scheduled replenishment of consumables at point-of-use locations.
  • Maintain established inventory levels and identify recurring stockouts, damaged materials, or inaccurate inventory levels.
  • Place consumable orders through designated systems and track open orders, late shipments, and shortages.
  • Receive, inspect, organize, and accurately record incoming materials.
  • Perform routine cycle counts and research inventory discrepancies.
  • Process internal material and consumable requests, including picking, staging, issuing, and delivering requested materials.
  • Communicate partial fills, backorders, availability, and expected lead times to internal customers.
  • Maintain and stock LOTO stations according to established requirements and report missing, damaged, or non-conforming items.
  • Support technicians and internal customers with tool, consumable, and material availability.
  • Respond to urgent requests and downtime events involving tooling, consumables, or material shortages.
  • Cross-train with the Lab Spares team and assist with material and tooling staging during downtime events, shutdowns, PMs, and major changeovers.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in applicable inventory, calibration, and material management systems.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by management.
