About The Position

Receives, stores, and issues hand tools, machine tools, dies, materials, and equipment. This role involves managing the inventory of tools and equipment, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and facilitating the smooth operation of the tool crib. The attendant will be responsible for issuing and returning tools, locating misplaced items, conducting inventory counts, and initiating purchase requisitions when necessary. Additionally, they will inspect tools for defects, deliver equipment to employees, and mark tools for identification. The position requires a proactive approach to maintaining inventory levels and ensuring all tools and equipment are accounted for and in good working condition.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintaining instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees or organizations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have a working knowledge of tools, production machinery and blueprints.
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with computerized record keeping is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Issue tools and equipment and maintain records of tools and equipment issued and returned.
  • Locate lost or misplaced tools and equipment.
  • Prepare periodic inventory or maintain perpetual inventory of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain records of tool and supply usage manually and by computer.
  • Initiate purchase requisitions and orders as necessary including contacting vendors for quotes, prices and to discuss products.
  • Receive, unpack, and store incoming tools and equipment, and requisition back to replenish inventory.
  • Inspect and measure tools and equipment for defects and wear and report damage or wear to supervisors.
  • Deliver tools or equipment to employees.
  • Mark and identify tools and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
