About The Position

Milwaukee Electronics is seeking a skilled Tool and Die Technician for a hands-on role where you will take tooling from concept to fabrication. This position involves designing precision dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures, and working closely with engineering and production teams to ensure manufacturing lines operate efficiently. The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, building things, and seeing the direct impact of their work on the shop floor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in tool and die making, precision machining, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated CNC operation experience (mill, lathe, or EDM) — able to set up and run parts with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Solid understanding of metalworking processes: tolerances, feeds and speeds, fixturing, and inspection.
  • Applicants must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, asylees, or refugees).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree, technical certificate, or completed apprenticeship in Tool and Die, Machining, or a related trade.
  • CAM software experience (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar).
  • Familiarity with stamping, forming, or injection mold tooling.
  • Experience in a contract manufacturing or high-mix production environment.
  • Basic knowledge of metrology tools: calipers, micrometers, CMM, or optical comparators.

Responsibilities

  • Design dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, and other precision tooling using CAD software.
  • Develop drawings and specifications that translate product requirements into manufacturable tooling.
  • Select appropriate materials, tolerances, and fabrication methods for each application.
  • Set up, operate, and program CNC mills, lathes, or EDM equipment to fabricate tooling components.
  • Write and edit CNC programs (G-code or CAM-generated) and adjust offsets/parameters for accurate machining.
  • Perform in-process inspections to verify dimensions and surface finish against print requirements.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness, tooling inventory, and basic preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot tooling problems alongside production and engineering teams.
  • Support new product tooling builds from prototype through production release.
  • Recommend improvements to reduce downtime, scrap, and cycle time.
  • Maintain accurate tooling records including revision history, maintenance logs, and inspection reports.
  • Follow all quality procedures and safety protocols on the shop floor.

Benefits

  • Equal opportunity employer status.
  • Consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability, or age.
