Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of experience in tool & die maintenance, preferably in plastics, extrusion, or nonwoven manufacturing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of precision tooling.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Experience with micrometers, calipers, gauges, torque tools and other precision measurement tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-temperature, fast-paced production environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working specifically with Spunbond (bico/mono) and Meltblown dies.
  • Technical degree or certification in Tool & Die, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
  • Knowledge of polymer flow, extrusion processes, or nonwoven manufacturing principles.
  • Certification in lifting equipment and powered industrial vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures related to high-temperature equipment, sharp tooling, lifting devices, chemicals, and die-cleaning processes.
  • Ensure dies and tooling meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in safety audits, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stop any activity that presents imminent safety risk and report hazards using established safety protocols.
  • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on dies and tooling, including bico/mono dies, meltblown dies, honeycombs and related components.
  • Execute inspections, cleaning, rebuild, and part replacements such as screens and panels on honeycomb units.
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble dies according to specifications and safety standards.
  • Identify and report wear, damage, or alignment issues and take corrective action.
  • Maintain tight tolerances and verify tooling condition using precision measurement instruments.
  • Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and adjustments.
  • Execute die cleaning using approved methods such as ultrasonic cleaning, pyrolysis oven processes, manual cleaning techniques and visual and microscope inspections.
  • Monitoring die installation, removal, and changeovers on nonwoven production lines.
  • Ensure proper alignment, temperature control, and configuration of dies during setup.
  • Diagnose die-related production issues such as polymer drips on Spunbond and Meltblown stripes or uneven Meltblown distribution issues.
  • Support diagnose honeycomb related issues such as air flow irregularities and polymer drips.
  • Collaborate with operators, process technicians, and engineers to resolve tooling problems quickly.
  • Recommend improvements to die design, maintenance practices, or process parameters.
  • Execute preventive maintenance schedules for all dies and related tooling.
  • Monitor die performance trends and identify opportunities for predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of die history, repairs, heaters and performance metrics.
  • Analyze maintenance history and production plans to prioritize activities.
  • Document all maintenance, repairs, inspections, and adjustments.
  • Manage inventory of die components, spare parts, and consumables.
  • Ensure all tooling is properly labeled, stored, and maintained.
  • Track and keep records related with Spunbond and Meltblown dies going into production
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and die specifications.
  • Participate in training on new technologies, tools, and processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to peers when required.
  • Demonstrate leadership and effective communication during troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
  • Comply with administrative requirements in a timely manner, such as safety reports (hazards), quality incidents, and completion of assigned trainings, among other assigned tasks.
