About The Position
This role is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of tools and dies, ensuring the Fabrication Department remains operational. The technician will proactively assess tooling to prevent breakdowns, maintain excellent working condition for maximum performance, and operate machine tools to fabricate parts. Responsibilities also include verifying die dimensions and alignments, heat treating tools, and recommending design modifications.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Tool and Die Repair Technician.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
- Must be able to use hands and fingers, talk, listen, and speak clearly.
Nice To Haves
- Technical school or Certifications (Journeyman's Card) are highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform the day-to-day tool and die maintenance and repair activities.
- Perform tooling changeovers and keep the Fabrication Department up and running.
- Repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of dies.
- Proactively assess all areas of tooling to determine needs for repair prior to a breakdown occurring.
- Continuously assess tooling, dies, and equipment to assure excellent working condition to achieve maximum performance.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
- Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances on Fabrication dies.
- Heat treats tools or parts.
- Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
