About The Position

Plans, designs, and constructs, or repairs a wide variety of highly intricate and complicated tools, dies, gauges, fixtures, to extremely close tolerances.

Requirements

  • One-year certification from trade school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years tool room experience.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Responsibilities

  • Constructs tools where a design is or isn't available
  • Select allowances and devises mechanism detail
  • Highly skilled fitting, adjusting, and timing
  • Performs any tool room machine operation
  • Works from complicated drawing and sketches
  • Uses advanced shop mathematics and all types of precision measuring instruments
  • Do skilled fitting, timing, and adjusting
  • Supervises die construction and/or completes tool making operations, together with related maintenance
