About The Position

This position will diagnose equipment malfunctions, perform preventive maintenance, and handle heavy components such as coin vaults following established procedures. The Technician will complete required maintenance documentation to support accurate tracking of repairs and parts usage in the Maintenance Online Management System (MOMS). Their duties include interpreting wiring schematics, coordinating with the Central Repair Depot for complex issues, managing spare parts status, removing damaged equipment for repair, and installing temporary or permanent replacements to ensure toll equipment remains in optimal working condition. Requirements

  • Knowledge of Computer network principles and computer repair
  • Knowledge of Electronic theory and practical applications
  • Knowledge of A Maintenance Management System
  • Skills in The use of volt/amp meters, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, network analyzers and basic hand tools
  • Skills in Reading and interpreting technical documents including wiring schematics and equipment manuals
  • Skills in Oral and written communication
  • Ability to Read and interpret complex schematics, parts/wiring diagrams
  • Ability to Establish test procedures
  • Ability to Follow written and verbal instructions

  • A Class E driver’s license is required.
  • This incumbent must remain available to return to work during off duty periods.
  • A valid Class (A, B, C, or E) driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department’s Driver’s Record Requirements Policy.
  • Male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962, must be registered with the Selective Service System (SSS) before their 26th birthday, or have a Letter of Registration Exemption from the SSS.

Responsibilities

  • Determines equipment malfunction to locate the source of trouble and make repairs or adjustments.
  • Performs preventative maintenance; this involves frequent inspection of basic elements of the equipment, cleaning switches, connectors, relay contacts, adjusting printers and other equipment. Lifts and handles heavy equipment for repair and maintenance to include coin vaults, vault frames, etc. as per maintenance procedures.
  • Completes Maintenance Action Forms (MAF), Preventive Maintenance Action Forms (PAF), and Shop Action Forms (SAF) as required. These reports ensure that preventative maintenance records for toll equipment components are documented; so that spares and repair parts usage is accurately projected in Management online Management System (MOMS).
  • Interprets wiring schematics for use in troubleshooting replacement of electronic and electromechanical parts to place the toll equipment into optimum operating condition.
  • Coordinates with system technicians at the Central Repair Depot (CRD) to troubleshoot malfunctions beyond the equipment technician's capability or experience to repair. Keeps the CRD advised on status of spare and repair parts through the use of the Maintenance online Management System (MOMS).
  • Removes damaged onsite repairable equipment for shipping to the bench repair capability of the CRD; installs temporary or permanent replacement equipment as required.
