Full-Time Toddler Assistant Teacher (FL)
About The Position
Lake Area Discovery Center is seeking a Full-Time Toddler Assistant Teacher for their location at Faith Lutheran in Forest Lake, MN. This is a year-round position, Monday through Friday, with a shift from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The assistant teacher will work with the teaching team to end the day with mixed-age preschool and toddlers. The Lake Area Discovery Center has a 25-year history of serving children aged 6 weeks to 5 years in the White Bear Lake/Forest Lake/Stillwater Community. They partner with ministry and education programs to provide rich education and faith-formation experiences. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain shortly after hire.
- Willingness to complete required health and safety training for child care professionals.
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and child abuse registry check.
- Ability to actively engage with young children, including sitting, standing, bending, and lifting up to approximately 40 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development coursework preferred; willingness to pursue additional education required for advancement.
- Previous experience working with young children preferred.
- Experience in a classroom, childcare center, church education program, or similar setting beneficial.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, coworkers, and families.
- Patient, positive attitude with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to follow program philosophy and align with Lake Area Discovery Center’s mission and values.
Responsibilities
- Assist with supervising children throughout the day, including activities, playtime, transitions, meals, and snacks.
- Support lead teachers in implementing age-appropriate curriculum and learning activities.
- Assist with classroom management and help maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.
- Actively engage with young children.
