The Legal Resource Center for Public Health Policy (LRC), situated at the University of Maryland Carey School of Law in Baltimore, Maryland, is seeking a Fellow or Staff Attorney. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position with the payroll title of Research Fellow or Research Assistant depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications. The Staff Attorney or Fellow will provide legal technical assistance to state and local public health departments, legislators, law enforcement, government attorneys, and community-based organizations in Maryland on a broad range of tobacco law and policy issues. Essential duties include providing oral or preparing written responses to requests for assistance; developing educational resources and policy papers on specific issues; tracking and summarizing state and federal tobacco legislation, regulations, and litigation; and developing and conducting in-person and virtual training sessions and presentations. The Staff Attorney or Fellow will manage the LRC webpages, social media accounts, and listserv communications; use Canva or other software to add graphics to public materials; assess all public materials for compliance with disability access requirements; and support planning of in-person events. The position will include in-state travel and potential out-of-state domestic travel for conferences. Other reasonably related duties may be assigned. This is a one-year grant-funded position with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and continuation of funding. This position is in-person in Baltimore, with the opportunity for remote work consistent with University policies and subject to approval of supervisors.
