About The Position

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Title & Survey Coordinator to support our Corporate practice, reporting directly to the Senior Practice Support Manager. The position can reside in the New York office, with hybrid work capabilities, and will be responsible for supporting the needs of the Corporate practice and Real Estate sub-practice. The Title & Survey Coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate required.
  • At least 3 years supporting a Commercial Real Estate practice group in a law firm environment required.
  • Strong experience and focus on title and survey review and management.
  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work proactively and demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize among competing tasks under pressure and time constraints.
  • Good judgment and a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and loyalty.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a large real estate practice preferred.
  • Understanding of and experience with discrete title survey requirements and processes in lending transactions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in all aspects of real estate transactional support, with an emphasis on handling substantive title and survey review, together with managing the corresponding process.
  • Conducting and managing title and survey review projects within the context of various real estate matters.
  • Ordering, reviewing, and analyzing title commitments, recorded documents, and surveys.
  • Writing title review summaries and objection letters and managing checklists relating to title matters.
  • General transaction management and execution, including preparing closing documents, closing checklists, coordinating lien searches, entity formation, drafting organizational documents, and preparing authority certificates and resolutions.
  • Obtaining services from outside vendors as needed and process billing and disbursement paperwork in connection with such services.
