About The Position

The Title Officer is responsible for closing transactions and issuing policy of title insurance. In addition, the title officer is responsible for examining and issuing title commitments for all types of transactions and for troubleshooting technical problems as they come up in the examination process; serves as liaison between Escrow, sales associates and consumers in resolving adverse title issues. Assist in recommending and training new officers and provide backup support throughout the Department as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of five years of successively more complex title examining experience, including experience in supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated computer skills; proficiency in Word and familiarity with a variety of specialized title software programs.
  • Effective analytical, proofing, problem-solving, detail-oriented and decision-making skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
  • Effective people management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Ability to work well under production deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Examine and issue title commitments for all types of transactions for the process of closing and issuing a policy of title insurance.
  • Reviews difficult transactions as they emerge. Functions as a liaison between various departments and consumers in resolving adverse title issues.
  • Confer with junior title officers and examiners, recommending solutions and identifying means to correct title problems.
  • Provide backup or support for all department staff, as needed. Help in recommendation or selection and development of new employees.
  • Handle all incoming technical questions from escrow, sales associates and consumers.
  • Work closely with Advisory Title Officer to achieve production goals and establish internal procedures that will increase efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain a close relationship with insurance underwriters and confer with them as technical issues arise. Network with other title company personnel to keep abreast of issues affecting the industry.
  • Participate in staff and management meetings as requested. Participate in continuing education programs as assigned.
  • Effectively analyze risks while managing efficiencies to reduce expenses.
  • Manage staff and procedures to ensure maximum customer service while minimizing expenses.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
