Requirements

  • Appropriate statutes, departmental rules, policies, and procedures as it pertains to leasing State Trust land.
  • Researching land title and leasing records.
  • Encumbrances, chain of title, leasing, and land records.
  • Title procedures, assignments, legal terminology, land research practices, and preparation of related documents.
  • Examining / proofreading documents for accuracy.
  • Advanced interpersonal, written, & verbal communications & display critical thinking.
  • Prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
  • Work collaboratively in teams and across organizations & adjust plans accordingly to meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of land legal descriptions.
  • Prioritize and organize documents.
  • Proficiency in computer usage and programs (Microsoft Office, Excel, Google Suite, Salesforce).
  • Communicate correct information to public and staff, as well as coordinating between various sections with appropriate tact and resourcefulness.
  • Understand and interpret legal descriptions to draw conclusions as to ownership and/or description of property.
  • Plan and organize personal workload to effectively meet assigned deadlines.
  • Prepare in-depth, accurate, and organized title and land research reports.
  • Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete required driver training. (refer to Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) Driver’s License Requirements.
  • All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in: Technical examining and/or title work similar to that done within a title company (i.e., Assessor's Office, State, Federal or City land/title Dept).
  • Reading land legal descriptions and contract-based research experience.
  • Any combination of training and experience that meet the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs); which may include, but are not limited to: a relevant degree from an accredited college or university, coursework and work experience relevant to assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Process Special Land Use Permits for all uses.
  • Oversee and manage the cancellation process for all contracts.
  • Process Applications to Place Improvement/Land Treatment applications.
  • Process new & renewal short-term and right of way applications, complete assignments.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
