About The Position

The Title Clerk is responsible for processing titles and registrations. They verify costs for the accounting department and handle the legal transfer of documents for the Department of Motor Vehicles. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager. This full-time, hourly position includes comprehensive benefits.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software.
  • Proficient with accounting software.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
  • Must pass pre-employment background and drug screenings.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of state tax and title requirements for various states is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • To process all new and used vehicle sales for registration in the state in which the vehicle will be titled including the preparation of tax documents.
  • To submit all legal transfer work to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • To prepare payoff checks for new vehicles and trade-ins as necessary.
  • To verify accuracy in the applicable legal documents to ensure that all information is accurate and complete.
  • To prepare transfer documents and enter accounting for dealer transfers.
  • To maintain records and post purchases of new and used vehicles.
  • Verify the placement of liens and provide proof to the lien holder, which will frequently require in-depth research.
  • Communicate with sales and finance team members to confirm all required documents get signed by customers.
  • Adjust accounts accordingly if an overage/shortage arises.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including copying, faxing, organizing documents, and managing phone calls.
  • To cross train others to handle Title Clerk daily responsibilities.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
