This specific role is a part-time Title I Tutor position at St. Benedict School, assisting high school and middle school students with homework, monitoring grades, tutoring GED certificate students, providing progress reports, and enforcing study hall rules. The interview committee prefers candidates who demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and the community.

Requirements

Certified IN teaching license required
Highly Qualified in Math (for one vacancy)
Ability to develop effective methods working one-on-one and in small groups with homeless children in various grade levels

Nice To Haves

Studying toward a degree in education or a related subject area
Experience working with at-risk students
Effective interpersonal relationship skills

Responsibilities

Assist youth with high school and, occasionally, middle school homework
Monitor grades on a weekly basis by accessing EdEase and contacting teachers
Tutor youth who are working on their GED certificate and assist them by grading their work and monitoring their progress
Provide weekly progress reports on all residents
Enforce study hours rules and maintain order during study hours
