About The Position

ACCEL Schools is hiring a Title 1 Teacher at Youngstown Academy of Excellence in Youngstown, Ohio. The role is dedicated to providing a superior education for students through engaging instruction and a positive classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. Youngstown Academy of Excellence serves EK–8th grade students in the Greater Mahoning Valley and offers a college-preparatory education, daily Spanish instruction, STEM, and career readiness. The campus includes learning and wellness facilities such as a climbing wall, gym, and playground.

Requirements

Active and current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to properly manage confidential information.
Ability to supervise students of various ages in settings such as playgrounds and cafeterias.
Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
Experience working within an urban environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
Manage student behavior in the classroom.
Create a positive classroom environment for students to learn in.
Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
Communicate and meet with families regarding their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities, as needed.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
