About The Position

The Tissue Typing Specialist will be responsible for updating procedures in the section policy and procedure manuals. This role involves assessing the urgency of tests to prioritize workload, analyzing test results for critical values and reporting them immediately, and preparing specimens for testing. The specialist will verify patient identification on samples and requests, apply rules of specimen rejection, and arrange for recollection if necessary. Additionally, they will use and maintain equipment and instruments, perform minor troubleshooting, prepare reagents, and accurately calculate, report, and record test results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences required.
  • Works in a busy environment around physicians, technologists, and other hospital teammates.
  • Works in an area which contains biohazardous (infectious) materials along with chemical, fire, and mechanical hazards.
  • May be required to stoop, reach and lift light (20 pound) to moderately heavy (50 pound) loads.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree, ASCP or ABHI Registered Technologist preferred.

Responsibilities
