The Tissue Typing Specialist will be responsible for updating procedures in the section policy and procedure manuals, assessing test urgency to prioritize workload, and analyzing test results for critical values. This role involves preparing specimens for testing, verifying patient identification, and applying rules of specimen rejection. The specialist will also use and maintain equipment and instruments, perform minor troubleshooting, prepare reagents, and accurately calculate, report, and record test results. The work environment is busy and involves exposure to biohazardous materials, chemical, fire, and mechanical hazards. Physical requirements may include stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
