About The Position

New England Donor Services (NEDS) is seeking a Tissue Recovery Specialist I to join their dynamic, professional team. This role offers hands-on paid training to learn aseptic removal of various tissues from deceased donors, contributing to life-saving and life-enhancing donations. Tissue donations are crucial for children needing heart valve transplants, breast cancer survivors requiring mastectomy surgeries, and individuals seeking to restore sight through corneal transplants. The ideal candidate is a positive, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and mission-driven team player who takes pride in their work and is motivated by the impact of their contributions.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or minimum 2 years professional experience as an EMT, Paramedic, ER Tech, OR Tech.
  • Hands-on healthcare experience is a must.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to thrive in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Must have an intermediate understanding of medical terminology.
  • Must be vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Must maintain required minimum personal automobile insurance per NEDS automobile policy.
  • Must live within a reasonable driving distance from the Waltham location.
  • Candidates will be required to travel by personal vehicle to meet the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Nice To Haves

  • EMT, Paramedic, ER Tech, OR Tech or Surgical Tech backgrounds with medical terminology and anatomy background strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Aseptically remove bones, skin, veins, corneas, heart-for-valves, and additional tissues from deceased donors.
  • Develop technical skills in tissue recovery.
  • Travel throughout New England in NEDS vehicles.
  • Manage multiple systems and computer applications.
  • Apply critical thinking skills by multi-tasking and applying Standard Operating Procedures during day-to-day work functions.
  • Adapt to variable working conditions.
