About The Position

The Tissue Processing Team Lead supports the Tissue Processing Supervisor in the cleaning, cutting, shaping, inspecting, and packaging of tissues for transplantation. The Team Lead executes all work mandated by the Supervisor and must be able to perform all the functions of all current processes. The Tissue Processing Team Lead is also responsible for complying with the quality assurance requirements and quality system goals of the bank as mandated by federal, state, and trade regulations. This position applies advanced and up to date knowledge of Allograft Applications including: Orthopedics, Neuro and general surgical principles, practices, usage, and technical support.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Vivex will not provide sponsorship or employment for candidates who require the 24-month STEM Optional Practical Training (OPT) extension. Please note this is not an offer of immigration sponsorship
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must demonstrate written and oral communication skills and have a track record reflecting attention to detail and organization.
  • AATB Certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college preferred in a related field of study with a minimum of three years experience preferred in Tissue Bank Processing, Operating Room or Manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Team Lead for specific processes and is the subject matter expert for their assigned areas.
  • Preparation of clean room and clean room procedures as specifically described in SOPs.
  • Preparation of aseptic processing, environmental set-up including all equipment supplies and monitoring of clean rooms.
  • Processing of allografts for clinical use such as bone, soft tissues, skin, autografts and other tissues as instructed by Processing Supervisor or designee.
  • Preparation and preservation of all types of bone for cutting and shaping into allografts: Tissue storage, Control-rate freezing, Placement of specimens into freezers (mechanical and liquid nitrogen), Freeze-drying, Temperature Monitoring of Equipment, Lyophilization.
  • Packaging tissue allograft as specified by SOP.
  • Decalcification of bone as applicable per SOPs.
  • Identification of allografts and producing of radiographs of the same.
  • Responsible for all data entry and completion of paperwork.
  • Proficiency and knowledge of information contained in the Tissue Bank Manuals.
  • Processing of high-quality allografts including cleaning of extraneous tissues and cutting all applicable business unit needs.
  • Must be able to lead teams of up to eight technicians with little or no supervision.
  • Responsible for training new technicians.
  • Responsible for training technicians on new procedures.
  • Will be required to perform any other task or function within the department on an as needed or emergency basis, and as assigned by Manager or Director.
