About The Position

The Tissue Culture Technician I is part of a well-coordinated floriculture team and will support the cultivation of cannabis plants in an aseptic environment for commercial production. The ideal candidate will excel as a team member within a tightly controlled, state-regulated system and adhere to timelines and SOPs. Curio tissue culture techs must also focus on employee safety and maintain a very clean facility and lab. Please note: This position involves working with plant material, which may include exposure to pollen, allergens, and other plant-related substances. Requirements

  • Previous experience working with plants or in a lab environment is preferred.
  • Ability to safely use sharp instruments.
  • Willingness to work in tight spaces and loud environments.
  • Ability to work around chemicals and fertilizers safely.
  • Willingness to learn scientific concepts and use of scientific equipment.
  • Ability to use sterile techniques
  • Must be 21 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Support and assist in aseptic micropropagation methodologies for mass-scale clone production.
  • Collect nodal stem samples for use in micropropagation and tissue culture research of cannabis.
  • Record data in laboratory notebook and/or Excel.
  • Operation of laboratory equipment in a safe manner.
  • Assure cleanliness and organization of glassware, plasticware, and other supplies as needed.
  • Assure the cleanliness of the lab environment.
  • Maintain an organized work environment.
  • Ability to execute techniques consistently.
  • Properly document all applicable activities in accordance with standards set by the State and the company.
  • Learn new laboratory techniques and use new equipment with instruction.
  • Support other Applied Science activities
