About The Position

Changes and repairs tires and tubes for various types of automotive and construction equipment. This role is distinct from a Service Station Attendant, as tire repair and changing is the primary focus, not an incidental duty. The position involves operating tire changing equipment, managing inventory of tires and tubes, ordering and stocking new and recapped tires, and performing field repairs via a tire repair truck. In some instances, the role may also involve duties of a Service Station Attendant.

Requirements

• A combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to one (1) year of full-time experience in changing and repairing automotive and truck tires and tubes
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle driver's license (equivalent to State of Hawaii Type 3)
• Prior to completion of probation, a Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) and a Department of Transportation Medical Examiner's Certificate
• Knowledge of common practices, tools, materials and equipment used in changing and repairing tires of various types and sizes
• Knowledge of hazards pertinent to the work
• Ability to recognize and repair damaged tires and tubes
• Ability to remove and mount tires of all sizes
• Ability to operate tire changing and dismantling equipment
• Ability to understand and follow safety rules and procedures
• Ability to keep records
• Ability to handle weights and loads
• Must meet health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations

Responsibilities

• Changes and repairs tires and tubes for a variety of automotive, truck and construction equipment
• Operates tire changing equipment and tools
• Determines and maintains adequate inventory of tires and tubes
• Orders, receives and stocks new and recapped tires
• Drives tire repair truck and makes tire changes and repairs in the field
• May perform as Service Station Attendant
• Performs other related duties as required
