About The Position

The Tire Building Material Handler operates jeeps, tuggers, walkies, forklifts, and material handling equipment for the purpose of delivering components to the Commercial Truck Tire building machines. They are also responsible for collecting and weighing green waste and collecting scrap components from the tire building machines and returning those to the supplying departments as well as returning empty books/cassettes to their respective departments.

Requirements

  • HS diploma /GED
  • Successful completion of the Work Keys assessment (Silver)
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 100 lbs, bending, and manual handling tasks
  • Able to read and understand specifications
  • Able to follow written and oral instructions
  • Able to work with limited supervision
  • Willing to work 12 hour rotating shifts – days, nights, and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 year experience in manufacturing preferred
  • Able to lead and foster teamwork.
  • Knowledge of Computers
  • Experience preferred using PIV (powered industrial) vehicles.
  • Must be certified to operate a Forklift through the Safety Department.

Responsibilities

  • Operate jeeps, tuggers, walkies, forklifts, and material handling equipment to deliver components to Commercial Truck Tire building machines.
  • Collect and weigh green waste.
  • Collect scrap components from tire building machines and return them to supplying departments.
  • Return empty books/cassettes to their respective departments.
  • Effectively communicate with supervision, other tire-room personnel, and supplying department supervision.
  • Follow all plant policies, environmental policies, and plant and departmental safety policies.
  • Perform all work necessary to obtain quality and quantity production promptly and accurately.
  • Keep work areas neat, clean, and orderly.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Shift Leaders or Department Manager.
  • Read and understand written and oral instructions regarding specs, procedures, tolerances, and various construction and quality requirements.
  • Communicate with other inbound and outbound operators, production operators, other crew members, and supervision.
  • Demonstrate the characteristics of 5S to keep work areas neat, clean, aligned, and orderly.
  • Drive and operate other material handling equipment as needed.
  • Responsible for the proper care and safe operation of material handling equipment.
