About The Position

This position assists sport officials in keeping score and time during youth and/or adult games. The role involves maintaining accurate game time using a timing clock, keeping accurate scores, ensuring the timing clock is in good working order, and recording team and player names onto score sheets before games. The job requires attention to detail, the ability to learn how to maintain and run a timing clock, legible handwriting, and demonstrated good attendance and punctuality. The working environment may include indoor gymnasium conditions with crowd noises and temperature variations, as well as outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, and rain. Duties involve remaining seated for the duration of a game with few break opportunities, and may involve physical tasks such as walking/running over rough surfaces, bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, lifting and carrying moderate to heavy items, and exposure to moving sports equipment.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn how to maintain and run a timing clock.
  • The ability to write legibly.
  • Demonstrated good attendance and punctuality.
  • Must be at least a sophomore in high school or have equivalent education or experience.
  • Reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of sports games is preferred.
  • Prior experience playing or scorekeeping of sports.
